Care Tips for Aquamarine & Bloodstone
Loretta Clayton·March 04, 2026
Because both aquamarine and bloodstone rank relatively low on the Mohs hardness scale, proper care is essential to preserve their beauty and longevity.
These gemstones should be kept out of ultrasonic and steam cleaners, as well as away from extreme heat and harsh chemicals, which can cause damage or discoloration.
For safe cleaning, use only a soft brush, mild soap, and warm water. Gently scrub each gemstone and rinse thoroughly before drying with a soft cloth.
To prevent scratches, store aquamarine, and bloodstone separately in individual soft pouches or lined jewelry boxes. Proper storage ensures each gemstone maintains its luster and remains protected for years to come.
